Scott Houston
Scott Houston is the Emmy Award winning host of "The Piano Guy" weekly public television
series. A highly sought after educator and speaker, Houston has lectured at over 150
colleges, universities, public TV stations, music retailers, and music trade associations,
including the Music Teacher's National Association and NAMM (the International Music
Products Association). Scott has long been a proponent of the Recreational Music Making
movement fathered by Karl Bruhn and Dr. Barry Bittman, which seeks to offer ALL people
the wellness benefits of playing music. He has authored numerous books and videos about
playing piano and has made it his life's mission to show people how to have fun playing
piano and unlock the life-enhancing benefits that come from Recreational Music Making.
Dr. Rebecca Baker (Grausam)
Dr. Rebecca Baker holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South
Carolina, a Master of Music degree from Butler University, and two Bachelor of Music
degrees in Piano and Flute Performance from Western Michigan University. Dr. Baker has been on the faculty of Erskine Collge and the University of South Carolina. She has
been an active member of the Music Teacher's National Association and is currently on the
Board of Directors for the Indiana Music Teacher's Association. Dr. Baker specializes
in mentoring high school piano students who aspire to become piano teachers and has
maintained a private piano and flute studio for over 15 years. She is currently on faculty at
the University of Indianapolis, and Meridian Music in Carmel, Indiana.
Shelley Wilson
Shelley Wilson is a group Recreational Music Making class leader who has empowered
adults with little or no musical experience to become successful at playing their favorite
songs. The owner of two piano stores, she and her staff have brought the Recreational
Music Making approach to thousands of students. Shelley has a particular talent for
showing how learning to play the piano is fun, understandable, and easily attainable. She
is committed to helping anyone who has the desire to make music to fulfill their lifelong
dream in a very fun and supportive environment.
Deborah Story
Deborah Story owns the Piano Fun Club, teaching Recreational Music Making (RMM) at
several locations in Iowa and Illinois, both in private lessons and in group classes. She
also conducts seminars that educate about the chord approach, RMM, and the wellness
benefits of playing music. While focusing mainly on adult beginning students, she also
teaches children, teens, and more advanced players who want to learn how to use the
chord approach to enhance their playing. Deborah was chosen to present at the 2008
Conference of the Music Teacher's National Association in Denver, at the "Best of the Best"
session on Recreational Music Making. She is very passionate about bringing the joy of
playing music to everyone, regardless of their background.
